Producing Web Content: Behind the Scenes with Sports Illustrated
Tuesday, November 17 2009 4:00PM to 6:00PM
Apple and Sports Illustrated photographers, Bill Frakes and Laura Heald will create a multi-media event while at the University of Michigan and show the materials in a formal presentation. The presentation will cover the future of journalism and media as well as workflow and use of Apple professional tools for creative media.
Advancements in digital technologies have dramatically altered the way journalists work and have opened up a new world of convergence media.
Rapid access to the internet. Satellite and video phones. Portable digital audio recorders, small HD video cameras, DSLR's and laptop computers allow instantaneous communication between most destinations in the world.
Journalists skilled at using these technologies can create content in a wide range of exciting and captivating ways, using the long tail of the web along with conventional print and broadcast media to tell their stories in different mediums increasing their reach and efficiency.
This event will focus on Apples professional tools in the area of convergence and new media and will allow local university students and faculty a chance to observe top multimedia producer Laura Heald of Straw Hat Visuals and Pulitzer Prize winning Photographer Bill Frakes of Sports Illustrated. Bill and Laura will be shooting footage of collegiate flag football for a piece to be run by SI.com. Apple and SI will do a team presentation focusing on the events of the prior day, the tools, convergence media and the future of journalism. Please join us for this very exciting day.
